Living, the
Salvaje way.

Currently Two conscious projects delivered, one mixed project under construction, and a signature residence in design — each carrying the Salvaje DNA.
Our Practice

We build quietly, around what's already here.

For nearly a decade, we've designed and developed nature-led homes across Costa Rica's coast and highlands. Our work begins not with a plot, but with a place — its trees, its slope, its sound, its season.

Every project is designed for the families who will live in it — the way we would design for ourselves. We are small by choice, careful by craft.

i.

Site First

Topography, canopy, and water are surveyed before a single line is drawn. Trees stay. Slopes are read. Designed bioclimatically — for the breeze, the sun, the season — and biophilically, for the daily presence of nature.

ii.

Local Hands

We build with Costa Rican craftsmen, local materials, and a network of architects and national firms.

iii.

Low Footprint

Solar, low water consumption, passive cooling, and biological treatment — built quietly into every home.

iv.

Long View

We deliver, then we stay. Owners have direct access to the team, years after handover.

The Salvaje Collection

Four projects.
One philosophy.

Our Footprint

Measured by what we preserve, not what we build.

Conscious development is a promise that needs proof. These are the numbers across our portfolio — Hermosa Salvaje, Grande Salvaje, and Salvaje 55.

34·trees
Existing mature trees preserved across our projects — 17 at Grande Salvaje, 14 at Hermosa Salvaje, and 3 at Salvaje 55. Every tree that was on the lot, kept.
60%
Of the Hermosa Salvaje lot left as living forest. Architecture sized to fit, not the other way around.
Water
Water in, water out. Each Grande Salvaje home uses efficient irrigation, low-flow fixtures, and low water consumption landscaping. All wastewater is treated on the property — Hermosa with a centralized plant, Grande with a septic + FAFA system that naturally treats 70–80% of the organic load.
Solar ready
All homes are designed for future solar and battery integration, with pre-wiring in place to allow for a simple, seamless installation. Some homes already operate fully on solar.

The Studio

PGO Salvaje. A name, a way.

We develop soulful spaces where nature, design, and wellness come together. PGO Salvaje creates conscious developments that honor the land, elevate daily living, and stand the test of time.

"Salvaje" — wild — is not a marketing word for us. It's the orientation of every project we touch: a house should respect what was here before, settle quietly into its setting, and let the Pacific do the rest.

PGO Salvaje is a small Costa Rican developer led by Gonzalo Ortuño C., based in Playa Grande, Guanacaste. We take on a limited number of projects at a time so we can stay close to each one — from siting and design through construction and the years that follow.

In Their Words
"
Purchasing our first home in Costa Rica made my wife and I a bit nervous. PGO Salvaje made the whole experience easy and fun! We couldn't be happier with the house built for us and the service provided. Highly recommended.

Some investors say you don't invest in the idea, but in the people who execute it. As a family, we were drawn to the idea of having a house on the beach — but after reviewing many real estate projects, what convinced us at Hermosa Salvaje was the passion with which the developers shared their purpose: to generate a positive impact on the environment, with a project that was honest from every angle. We didn't invest in a house; we invested in a dream — and we were certain the final result would exceed their expectations and ours.

We researched various projects including Hermosa Salvaje. Its unique architectural design and brilliant vision for airy, modern, spacious homes fully integrated into the surrounding environment was exactly what we were looking for. Gonzalo's attention to detail is superb, and his dream of creating an intimate residential community has been realized. The only regret we have is we didn't get in on the ground floor of this project.
